Our Story
OnSpec started with a simple frustration: the same types of errors keep showing up on construction projects, cycle after cycle. Foundation depths that do not match frost line requirements. MEP duct routes that conflict with structural beams. Door schedules that reference nonexistent hardware groups.
These are not complex engineering problems. They are coordination gaps that hide in hundred-page plan sets until someone catches them in the field, at which point the fix costs 10x what it would have cost on paper.
We founded OnSpec in 2024 with a belief that AI could do for plan review what spell-check did for writing: not replace human judgment, but catch the obvious errors so professionals can focus on the complex decisions that actually require their expertise.
Today, OnSpec analyzes plans across six disciplines, cross-references over 50 building codes, and delivers findings in minutes with direct code citations. We are used by general contractors, architecture firms, engineering consultancies, and code review agencies to catch issues before they become change orders.
